Collaborations between artists and fashion designers, illustrators and make-up brands, sport brands and fashion directors are nothing new in Tokyo and have always grabbed my attention. So far, 2015 has shown us some wonderful fusions. Here are the vibrant collections shaped by these amazing creative minds’ team work.
Repetto x Mina Perhonen created this limited and beautiful shoe collection that is being pre-sold at the Repetto store in Matsuya Ginza and at Mina Perhonen stores in Shirokanedai and Kyoto (images via Fashion Headline)
NikeLab x Sacai (by Chitose Abe) is about the redefinition of sport classics.Designed for the body in motion, the collection presents artful combinations of innovative materials that fluidly disrupt traditional sportswear forms. Converse x Comme Des Garcons Play are linking up again to release a collection of Chuck Taylor ’70s for the summer. The collection features two highs and two lows sneaker, in black or milk and with the Red Heart logo (Images via DSMG)
Belgian confectionary Frisk has teamed with Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami and launched a special collaborative line of art candy, called Frisk Neo, to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Tokyo-based illustrator Yuko Higuchi and Japanese fine art manufacturer Holbein have come together and created an adorable range of stationery, stamps, notebooks and oil paints set. Higuchi uses her pet cat Boris as her main source of inspiration portraying realistic animals in surreal situations (images via Yuko Higuchi Official Website)
A Bathing Ape joined forces with Lacoste and re-styled a number of basics including polo shirts, sweatpants and tees. The combined logo offers a clever take on the collaboration. A cute clip HERE. Celebrating their 15th anniversary, Japanese accessories brand Genten has teamed with US design studio House Industries and created a beautiful selection of leather tote bags, backpacks, key chains and smartphones and tablets cases and leather door hangers
