Good news for the lovers of hot lips colours! Shu Uemura has recently launched “Laque Supreme” a lineup of 15 different colours liquid lip rouges that range from red to fuchsia to pink and coral (¥3,200)
And for this collection, Shu Uemura has specially teamed up with traditional maker of lacquer wear Yamada Heiando and produced “Aka Red” a special colour inspired in the red qualities of Japanese lacquer wear (urushi).
“Aka Red” recreates the bold colour of urushi with its sheer touches. The applicator was specially designed as well, to fit the shape of the lips and enable the application of the colour evenly.
Developed over the last 7,000 years, Urushi or Japanese lacquer is made with toxic sap, powdered metals, bits of shell, and months or years of patient labor. Cultivated from the lacquer tree, lacquer is extremely durable, is resistant to moisture, and has an incomparable natural gloss. It may be painted, carved, and moulded; lending itself to a wide range of artistic expression. If you’re interested in the history of Urushi, you can read further information HERE
