It’s design week again in Tokyo and the city holds a wonderful variety of events everywhere. I checked out Shibuya Design Site in Shibuya Seibu. An amazing selection of fashion designers, interior, lifestyle, food and art is displayed within the building.
SOMARTA is all about the beauty of the female body and about enhancing that beauty from an artistic point of view and through clothing. If you look closely, you’ll see the amazing details in the fabrics, some of them even with 3D prints.
In 2006, SOMARTA introduced her iconic “Skin Series” based on the concept of a “second skin”. 3D scanning allowed the garments to be seamless and have a perfect fit over the body. The meticulous construction process and the impeccable tattoo-like patterns have taken SOMARTA to a whole new level of sophistication (photos below via SOMARTA, all credits go to her).
Hirokawa has been awarded several prized since the creation of her brand. She is also active in various other fields such as design and art including graphic, sound, products and movies.
