Comme Des Garçons A/W 2014 at DSM Ginza「A/W2014 コムデギャルソン/銀座」

Avant Garde Japanese brand Comme Des Garçons has presented their A/W 2014 Collection and it’s currently being shown at “An Elephant Space” in Dover Street Market, the brand’s flagship store in Ginza.

I’ve always admired Rei Kawakubo’s radical approach to fashion and this collection is not an exception. So radical and forward that you might end up completely disconcerted… But does it really matter? I still love her works. The gigantic tailored jackets, the knitted cages, the knotted sleeves, the massive volume… everything walks the blurred line between fashion and art.

CDG AW2014Kawakubo herself defined the lineup in the following way:

“The theme of the collection this time is MONSTER. It’s not about the typical Monster you find in sci-fi and video games. The expression of the Monsters I have made has a much deeper meaning. The craziness of humanity, the fear we all have, the feeling of going beyond common sense, the absence of ordinariness, expressed by something extremely big, by something that could be ugly or beautiful. In other words, I wanted to question the established standards of beauty.” (Extract from Style.com)

I’d like to thank DSMG’s staff who kindly let me shoot their beautiful art space…ありがとうございます!!
