Have you ever seen a rainbow? From auburn (chapatsu), to red, pink, lavender, blue, green, white… Japanese girls and boys will dye their hair in mostly any colour as an assertion of individuality, fashion trends or an act of rebellion. But this will only last until it’s time for job interviews in big companies or Government ministries.
In the meantime, this is what you’ll see in Tokyo streets ….
A lot has been written about the color of hair and its significance in Anime Manga. Reasons behind this go from making easier to distinguish characters to using color as a distinct mark of the character’s personality, either way, it’s fascinating how the trend transfers from manga to real life.
