Following the same concept they have in their museum and shop, where the main goal is to promote local products of Japan’s 47 prefectures, this restaurant/café offers seasonal food, drinks and alcohol from around the country. Each month, the prefectures change and so does the menu.
The day of my visit was a Japanese holiday called “Setsubun”. This day is like a sort of spiritual spring cleaning when you clean up your house, and then throw beans around chanting “good spirits in, bad spirits out!”
DD47 gave each of the customers a handful of “Fukumame” (“lucky beans” or plain roasted soy beans). I heard that you’re supposed to eat the same amount of beans that equals your current age, but that would have been too many 😉 I had that and some tea from Kagoshima Prefecture.
The view from my spot at the counter…
Like what you ordered? You can buy that product right there!
I’d like to thank DD47 Shokudo’s staff that kindly let me shoot inside their lovely cafe/restaurant …ありがとうございます
