  1. I see so many English words in your photos. Do many people in Tokyo read English, or do the words just look cool?

    • People study English at school so it’s safe to assume that they can read/write. But I also think that people use it cause it looks cool. And, in some cases, they use it whether they understand the meaning or not.

    • Thank you. I was a little afraid my question might sound offensive. It was just something I’d often wondered about.

    • You’re welcome Paul and no worries. Truth is there’s a lot of criticism about the way English in taught at schools here. I’m not English native speaker, so maybe I’m not the most appropriate person to talk about this, but I have to add that some Japanese to English translations are quite amusing. Lots of examples on the web 🙂

  2. Something that I’ve noticed while living in Japan, and am noticing again now that I read your post: Japanese girls love the show off their leggs and they hardly show any cleavage or even exposed shoulders. In Belgium it is the other way around: it is a lot more common to show off cleavage rather than leggs.
