Tokyo Designers Week, an international celebration of design, is taking place in Meiji Jingu Gaien Mae until today, Monday, November 4th.
So if you are in town you still have time to drop by and enjoy a wide range of design, from architecture to furniture, installations, technology and fashion.
Eco-design was featured strongly. One of my favorite designs was “ROO Garbage Bag”, a multi function tote that you can assemble with the help of few buttons. Waterproof, re-usable, made of recycled materials and cool design. Can’t ask for more! おしゃれ!!!
“Saddle Blossoms” by Cogoo (Japanese only) recycles saddles from abandoned bicycles and turn them into plant potters.
Takayuki Kawai’s dual-purpose emergency helmet and modern chair, perfect protection against Japan’s earthquakes.
The lighting and furniture designs were so cool!
TDW’s trademark cargo containers, featuring both emerging and established designers.
The Kaleido container. Visitors were handed in a bunch of stickers they could stick anywhere inside and outside the container. They print new colors every day, so the container has been mutating during the event.
Cool Design + Cool People
Every year, students from Universities within Japan create amazing human scale structures that I love. A perfect spot for the audience to interact, have fun and enjoy the process with all your sense.
TDW2014 I’m looking forward to you!
