In good Tokyo style, Vacant is a very original backstreet Harajuku venue.
On the ground floor there’s a big shop selling books, music and T-shirts and there’s “Little Nap Coffee stand” a cool café/bar inside the shop itself.
The second floor is an event space used for live music and film screening and it also works as an independent art gallery.
Finding a decent place to eat in Tokyo is generally not an issue, but finding a calm one in Harajuku is a challenge.
The atmosphere inside the café space is relaxed, inviting people to enjoy a cup of coffee, have a snack or just browse through the books.
When I was there, there was an art installation at the shop entrance. Too Much Magazine was presenting “The Exotic Bodies of the Maghreb” a drawing exhibition which was pretty awesome.
I’d like to thank Vacant’s staff that kindly let me shoot inside their beautiful café/gallery ありがとうございます!!
