The café is simply beautiful, with mismatched furniture, worn wood, corrugated iron and the perfect lighting. Paintings, sketches and sculptures of Nara’s iconic devilish children are all over the walls, the tables and in each corner of this spacious café.
Right in the middle of the café there’s a slightly surreal small wooden house that acts as the artist’s atelier/showroom.
Go ahead and peek into the windows and be delighted with his cute and disconcerting paintings of cartoon-characters dolls.
Order some food and/or drinks, sit around and enjoy the atmosphere and Nara’ wonderful world. Very cool staff as well.
I’d like to thank A TO Z Café’s staff that kindly let me shoot inside their wonderful café… ありがとうございます!!
And, I’d like to dedicate this post to my dear friend Carol, because I know how much she loves Yoshitomo Nara’s artworks.
